Supplementation

I like to keep things completely honest with my clients. If there was a miracle pill, I’d be first in line to take it! With that said, 99% of the supplements promoted are complete trash.

However, there are a few supplements that I do recommend that may be beneficial to your training.

Nor is there any such thing as a “30-minute protein window” (you can click here to read more about this scam). Protein powder should be used as a tool to keep you from binge eating on fast food when you don’t have the time to prepare a meal. I personally only drink shakes when I am short on time and it helps curb my appetite. It can also be beneficial to those people that have a hard time getting enough calories into their bodies (specifically protein).

Typically I would say you’re wasting your money but I keep coming across more and more people that just do not consume fruits and vegetables. If that’s you, I highly suggest a multi-vitamin!

Fish oil is amazing at helping your body combat inflammation, thus reducing your recovery time and allowing you to get back to the gym.

I love drinking my pre workout, it personally puts me in the state of mind that it’s time to get my mind ready for an intense workout. If you choose one without, or simply decide to go without, I highly suggest buying some separate. Creatine¬†works by pulling water into your muscle cells, which increases protein synthesis. Will it make you stronger? Yes and no. The substance will increase your endurance for a couple of reps each exercise. So lets say for example, you typically bench press 220 lbs. for 10 reps. Creatine would allow you to get 11-12 reps, thus increasing your overall volume and thus eventually making you stronger.
