I like to keep things completely honest with my clients. If there was a miracle pill, I’d be first in line to take it! With that said, 99% of the supplements promoted are complete trash.
However, there are a few supplements that I do recommend that may be beneficial to your training.
[amazon_textlink asin=’B002DYIZH6′ text=’Whey Protein Powder‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’travjeffries-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’ffbd375c-e534-11e7-8441-9d6bd629d861′] – There is nothing special about Whey Protein as compared to eating chicken breast or turkey. Nor is there any such thing as a “30-minute protein window” (you can click here to read more about this scam). Protein powder should be used as a tool to keep you from binge eating on fast food when you don’t have the time to prepare a meal. I personally only drink shakes when I am short on time and it helps curb my appetite. It can also be beneficial to those people that have a hard time getting enough calories into their bodies (specifically protein).
[amazon_textlink asin=’B001KYO3Z8′ text=’Mutli-Vitamin‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’travjeffries-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’0f5e43fe-e536-11e7-87ce-27756ff2a03b’] – My opinion on this varies depending on the person asking. Typically I would say you’re wasting your money but I keep coming across more and more people that just do not consume fruits and vegetables. If that’s you, I highly suggest a multi-vitamin!
[amazon_textlink asin=’B0046XC528′ text=’Fish Oil‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’travjeffries-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’8ec5c66b-e536-11e7-a353-bf13b9d02ef4′] – Unless you eat a lot of fish, then you probably are deficient in Omega-3’s. Fish oil is amazing at helping your body combat inflammation, thus reducing your recovery time and allowing you to get back to the gym.

I love drinking my pre workout, it personally puts me in the state of mind that it’s time to get my mind ready for an intense workout. I have three favorite brands that you can read about by clicking this link.
[amazon_textlink asin=’B002DYIZEO’ text=’Creatine‘ template=’ProductLink’ store=’travjeffries-20′ marketplace=’US’ link_id=’9bfd9a3b-e537-11e7-b9ac-253b6c92a9f6′] – A lot of pre workouts contain creatine so I have never had to take it by itself. If you choose one without, or simply decide to go without, I highly suggest buying some separate. Creatine works by pulling water into your muscle cells, which increases protein synthesis. Will it make you stronger? Yes and no. The substance will increase your endurance for a couple of reps each exercise. So lets say for example, you typically bench press 220 lbs. for 10 reps. Creatine would allow you to get 11-12 reps, thus increasing your overall volume and thus eventually making you stronger.
